A WARRINGTON academy has been named in the top one per cent of primaries in the country.

Every single pupil who took part in the most recent Key Stage 2 assessment test at Bruche Primary Academy reached or exceeded the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths.

The achievement was even noted by schools minister Damian Hinds who wrote to executive head teacher Chris Jones to congratulate him, his staff, and pupils.

“This means that for achievement in reading, writing and mathematics, Bruche Primary Academy is in the top one per cent of primary schools in the country,” the minister wrote.

“The government wants to ensure that every child has the fluency in reading, writing and mathematics necessary to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, which is why I was delighted to see your results.”

“Thank you for your work in continuing the drive towards higher academic standards, and congratulations again to you and your staff for your commitment and success.”

Chris Jones said the letter was recognition of all the hard work put into teaching and learning by staff and pupils.

“At Bruche we put excellent teaching at the very centre of everything that we do, setting high expectations for each and every one of our pupils, and it’s great to know that the minister appreciates this.”

Bruche Primary is one of eight primary schools that make up Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of more than 2,300 children aged two to 11.
