A CHILD conservationist has been given a key role at a prestigious Washington D.C institution.

Aneeshwar Kunchala, from Westbrook, has been appointed the first ever Youth Ambassador for the Arts and Entertainment at The Kennedy Centre.

The nine-year-old environmental expert visited the Washington in January after he was invited to be a part of the Reach to Forest Cultural Exchange Program.

The program brought together students from Aneeshwar’s school, St Phillip's CE, a local school in Washington D.C and the Atodi Indigenous community – a remote tribe in the amazon rainforest.

Hosted by the Kennedy Centre, the program aimed to foster mutual understanding, respect and appreciation of different cultures and lifestyles between the students.
