A FIVE day classical music and jazz festival is heading to Warrington in May and June.
Warrington Concert Series (WCS) has launched a new music event and organisers are hoping to ignite a passion for live classical and jazz music in the town.
WCS will debut a series of concerts between May 30 and June 3 combining top-tier performances with affordable ticket prices
WCS is dedicated to ensuring that the beauty of live classical music is accessible to all members of our community, regardless of their familiarity with the genre.
With tickets starting at £5 for concessions and students, and £10 for adults, the festival promises “an exhilarating line up of live music”, from composers Liszt, Chopin and Haydn to captivating jazz improvisations.
Festival organisers are urging people to “come and experience the spirit of live music on their doorstep”.
The series of musical concerts is organised by Warrington pianist and music educator Joshua Kelly and event director Natalie Baker.
The five-day festival will feature jazz duo Les Chisnall and Iain Dixon, solo soprano Georgie Malcolm and pianist Nico De Villiers as well as a piano quintet Aestus String Quartet and Jordi Bitlloch.
Josh Kelly said: “This festival marks an exciting moment for Warrington’s music scene and cultural landscape.
“It’s an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty of live classical and jazz music and experience some wonderful performances.
“I couldn't be more excited to be part of it and we’d love to see as many people there as possible.”
In addition to the professional performances, WCS team will host a community concert open to Warrington-based pianists of all skill levels on Saturday, June 1.
Natalie said: “The community event will provide a platform for local pianists of all ages to come together, perform and enjoy an afternoon of music.”
