A WARRINGTON nursery celebrated 20 years since opening its doors.

Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School in Orford marked the milestone last Tuesday by unveiling a commemorative bird bath – designed and made by children who attend the setting.

As a celebration of the long-standing nursery, the children spent the day learning circus skills, meeting animals and enjoying music and story sessions with local author, Sean Perkins.

And the fun continued way beyond the end of the school day as an impressive 180 children and their families both past and present along with staff and friends of the school joined to attend a party hosted by Sandy Lane.

During the gathering the commemorative bird bath was unveiled.

“This had been designed and made by the children, with the help of the school’s resident potter Debbie Podmore, and now takes pride of place in the school’s kitchen garden,” a spokesperson from Sandy Lane said.

A special presentation was also given in honour of the school’s chair of governors, Maureen Banner, who has loyally fulfilled this role for the 20 years the school has been open.

Headteacher, Marcia Atherton, added: “We are proud of our outstanding nursery school and our achievements over the past 20 years.

“It was wonderful to see so many families and friends of the school, our Sandy Lane family, join us to help us celebrate such a special occasion.”
