MORE than £10,000 has been raised in a ‘lifetime highlight’ for Warrington Town supporters.

Around 30 Yellows fans walked through the night to raise money for the club’s fundraising appeal.

The appeal, which has a target of £80,000, is to help the club pay for the upgrades to its Cantilever Park home.

Warrington Guardian:

The support from fans wanting to get involved in the fundraiser was incredible, with one supporter even flying in from Norway to take part.

The team completed the 40-mile loop around Warrington earlier this month, raising a huge £10,002 for the club so far.

They finished the walk at Warrington Town Football Club where they did a lap of the pitch and were clapped by those in the stands.

Warrington Guardian:

Completing the challenge and raising these funds was special in itself for those who took part.

But the experience also meant much more than that, it brought supporters closer together.

Neil Horton, who took part in the walk, told the Warrington Guardian: “A lot of people who were involved have all commented about how it's brought people closer together.

Warrington Guardian:

“They have spoken to fans and directors that they didn't previously know and new friendships have definitely come from it.

“I think everyone is on a real high at the moment.

“It just felt like everyone was united behind the club.”

A WhatsApp group was set up for the fundraiser and those in it are already talking about what can be done next to raise money for Warrington Town Football Club.
