DO you need help sleeping?

How much sleep do you get each night? Is it enough?

To coincide with World Sleep Day today, Friday, March 15, Hotpod Yoga Warrington is launching sleep sessions designed to encourage deep relaxation and provide the opportunity to hit the pause button during the afternoon or support your evening wind-down routine.

On average, residents in the north west get less than six hours sleep during the working week – five hours and 44 minutes - with stress, worries and a racing mind being to blame for 45 per cent of those asked not getting enough rest.

The new research carried out by Hotpod Yoga Warrington, which is based on Time Square in the town centre, revealed that 26 per cent of people blamed an irregular sleep schedule and 21 per cent put their lack of sleep down to screen time.

Some 75 per cent of people said they would like more sleep with 81 per cent wanting better quality sleep while 13 per cent admitted they haven’t tried any strategies to aid better sleep.

Being tired can impact daily performance and productivity with 52 per cent of people surveyed saying lack of sleep results in a lack of energy and motivation, 35 per cent said it affected mood swings and irritability and 34 per cent said it decreased concentration.

Some Warrington residents are looking for better quality sleep with 18 per cent having tried relaxation techniques such as yoga, breathwork or meditation.

Hotpod Yoga Warrington is one of 50 studios across the country launching sleep-focused classes at the end of March.

Sleep Sessions have been created by Hotpod Yoga to address the importance of sleep to overall health and wellbeing.

The class will offer a calming and restorative flow that is suitable for everyone and will draw from different yoga styles to deliver the ultimate in relaxation.

The patented pod aims to be a “peaceful cocoon that will take you a million miles from the world outside, helping you to relax deeply and find calm, within the dim lights and soothing sounds, in turn aiding your sleep, stress relief and general mental health”.

Sleep Sessions classes will all take place at a comfortable room temperature and won’t be ‘hot’ sleep sessions like hot yoga.

Stuart Lawton, owner of Hotpod Yoga Warrington said: “Sleep Sessions will help people to practice yoga in an environment curated for recovery – dim light, relaxing music, pleasant aromas.

“Expert teachers will guide people through gentle flow, breathwork and deep relaxation.

“We are so excited to add this class to our timetable and to provide local residents with an opportunity to rest and unwind, setting the foundations to support their sleep and all-round wellbeing.

“Sleep Sessions hugely complements our wider offering, with our classes providing something for everyone, whatever their needs may be - whether they are coming for fitness, stress relief or to establish positive habits that can aid their sleep.”
