A WARRINGTON high school hosted a prestigious education event which saw teachers attend from all over the country.

King’s Leadership Academy Warrington, based in Woolston, welcomed more than 500 teachers and school and academy leaders from across the UK on Saturday for a one-day conference to share knowledge and experience about the latest best practices in education.

The prestigious event is one of a series which are taking place worldwide and are attracting leading academies and educationalists to speak at.

Being selected to host the researchED event is a recognition of the Great Schools Trust and its King’s Leadership Academies’ reputation for defining and setting standards of excellence.

Avril Habbal, assistant principal at King’s Warrington, was one of the event organisers.

During the day, there were more than 50 sessions in different subject streams covering topical issues and best practices for multi-academy trusts, schools, teachers and students.

Among those presenting sessions during the day were Shane Ierston, chief executive of the Great School’s Trust, Katie Sharp, previously principal at King’s and now the trust’s director of education as well as King’s Warrington teachers Jenny Hopwood, Carmen Quiros and Matthew Bowden.

Shane Ierston, chief executive of the Great Schools Trust, commented: “This is the third time we have been invited to host researchED which shares the very best thinking and approaches in education.

“It is a recognition from others of our achievements and academic standards here at King’s Warrington and within the Great Schools Trust.

“It makes me proud that staff members were asked to lead sessions in key topics such as inclusion, school cultures, use of AI in education and implementation of a foreign language curriculum.”
