An Environment Agency spokesman said: “These flood warnings and the flood alert have been issued due to the high tide forecast for this afternoon, Tuesday.

“We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next two days, and as a result we may issue further flood alerts and warnings.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updated messaging during this period of high tides.

“Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

“This message will be updated by 6pm, or as the situation changes.”
