A WARRINGTON man, who tried his luck on BBC One’s Pointless, will be appearing in his third and final show tonight (Tuesday).
Tim P, who works against climate change in London but hails from Warrington, appeared on the hit quiz show hosted by Alexander Armstrong with school friend Jack, who lives in Manchester.
The pair’s first show, which was originally shown on BBC One in April last year, aired again on Friday and their second show was on television last night (Monday).
Their third and final appearance can be seen this evening (Tuesday) at 5.15pm.
How would you have faired with the questions Tim and Jack were faced with?
Would you have bagged a pointless answer?
In the pair’s first show – Series 29 episode 12 – the opening round had contestants identifying items of food and drink with a double L in their names.
Tim correctly told Alexander and comedian Rose Matafeo that the rich sauce was Hollandaise, which scored 58 points.
Jack said the sweet pastry was a Bakewell tart and earned 49 points and the friends were eliminated at the end of round one.
Their second show was much more successful with Tim and Jack making it through to the head-to-head round.
Round one had the teams naming historical figures who were alive in the 19th century.
Jack correctly identified novelist and poet Emily Bronte which scored 39 points.
Tim, who once played rugby at Twickenham when he was 15, said Charles Darwin presented the Origin of the Species and scored 54 points.
In round two, teams had to name a capital city that end with a vowel.
Both Jack and Tim found pointless answers -Tbilisi, which is the capital of Georgia, and Antananarivo, which is the capital of Madagascar, - and added £500 to the jackpot.
In round three, where contestants try and add more money to the jackpot, Jack and Tim – who were up against Ellie and Angela – had to find pointless songs written by John Kander and Fred Ebb.
Could you spot the pointless answers?
- Cell Block Tango (1 point)
- Peep Show (wrong answer – show by Mitchell and Webb)
- I Wrote The Book (pointless)
- Isn’t This Better? (5 points)
- Mr B (wrong answer)
- Perfectly Marvellous (pointless)
In the head-to-head, Tim and Jack, and Ellie and Angela had to identify the carnivorous plants shown in the pictures with alternate letters of their names removed.
Jack and Tim chose Venus flytrap but their opponents answer Rainbow Plant scored fewer points.
The second head-to-head round was centred on afternoon tea at The Ritz, also with alternate letters removed.
Jack and Tim’s fruit scones scored 19 points and Ellie and Angela’s sourdough bread scored just 11 points, meaning the pair from the north west were eliminated just before the final round.
How will Jack and Tim get on in their final show tonight? Will they make it to the final and take home the jackpot?
Tune in at 5.15pm on BBC One or catch the episode on BBC iPlayer.
