TEN restaurants and takeaways in Warrington have released their food hygiene ratings in the past week, with one Chinese takeaway given a one out of five rating.

Of the 10 eateries in Warrington with food hygiene ratings published in the last week, just two restaurants were given a perfect five out of five.

China China Express, on Academy Way, was given a hygiene rating of one out of five.

Cardamon Cuisine, one of the highest rated Indian restaurants in Warrington, received a shock poor score.

The popular Indian in Stockton Heath received a score of two out of five, with the ‘cleanliness’ stated as an area where the eatery required improvement.

Esquire’s Coffee House at The Forge Shopping Centre – 3/5

Cardamon Cuisine on London Road – 2/5

Chapelford Pub at Chapelford Village Centre – 4/5

Captains Table on Marsh House Lane – 4/5

Jade Garden on Station Road – 3/5

Turf and Feather on Glover Road – 3/5

Dead Eyes Street Food on Bridge Street – 5/5

Aros Kitchen on Longshaw Street– 5/5

The inspections are carried out by officers working toward the Food Standards Agency's criteria, which are:

  • Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
  • Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.
