A MAIN town centre road was closed last night, Friday.

Battersby Lane was closed between the junction with Leonard Street and the Albion Pub following a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

A large emergency service presence were on the scene including police and ambulance.

The pedestrian involved in the collision was taken to Warrington Hospital having sustained 'serious' but not life threatening injuries.

The road closure was put in place from approximately 9.49pm until 11.58pm and affected fans leaving The Halliwell Jones Stadium following the Warrington Wolves v Hull FC game.

Surrounding roads were also busier than usual.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At 2149hrs on Friday 23rd February 2024 a single vehicle road traffic collision was reported on Battersby Lane, Warrington.

"A car was in collision with an adult pedestrian.  The pedestrian sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries.  He was conveyed to Warrington District General Hospital for treatment.

"The road was closed until 2358hrs whilst investigations were completed at the scene.”
