AN award-winning town centre bakery has expanded its menu to cater for customers looking for tasty treats early in the day.

White Lace Bakery in Golden Square has served delicious afternoon tea treats with finger sandwiches, cakes and desserts and homemade scones topped with jam and cream on the menu.

But owner Lindsay Albon has added ‘Morning Tea’ to the menu – a brunch style afternoon tea that tempts customers into the coffee shop a little earlier in the day.

The fruit scones are now cheese and bacon and they’re accompanied by mini croissants and pain au chocolat and jam and butter as well as fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and granola pots.

There’s a sausage brioche bap, an English muffin with bacon and poached eggs and toasted bloomer with avocado and feta cheese.

Make sure you leave room for the American pancake stack served with streaky bacon and maple syrup.

The morning tea delights are washed down with orange or apple juice and cost £19.95 per person.

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Lindsay said: “We’ve introduced morning tea to the menu so that customers can enjoy some tasty treats earlier in the day than the traditional afternoon tea.

“We think it's a unique and exciting idea and there's been lots of interest since we launched it on the menu.

“It’s the perfect breakfast or brunch and is already proving really popular with customers.

“The cheese and bacon scones are homemade each day and the mini pancake stacks make the perfect sweet and savoury end to the meal.

“It's a great way to start the day!”

TAKE A LOOK AT THE MORNING TEA AT WHITE LACE BAKERY:

Lindsay Albon had a wedding cake business in 2016 and then threw open the doors to her shop four years later on Market Place, Golden Square, after running a temporary stall in Warrington Market.

The talented team at White Lace Bakery – Lindsay, husband Graham and daughter Lauren Paget, who is the shop manager – won 2022’s Best for Dessert award and did the double, winning Warrington’s 2023 search to find the tastiest treats in town.

Earlier this month, Lindsay gave us her three top tips for making perfect pancakes on Pancake Day.

Having served up countless plates of pancake towers in the past few years on their award-winning dessert menu, who better to ask for some top tips on Pancake Day?

Customers love the Nutella and strawberries, Kinderella and Lotus Biscoff pancakes as well as the white chocolate funfetti, brownie overload and banoffee not forgetting the bigger version of the mini streaky bacon and maple syrup stack served on the morning tea.

Lindsay’s top three tips for perfect pancakes were:

1. Always use fresh eggs preferably free range to make extra fluffy pancakes.

2. Take your time and make sure the heat isn’t too high or they might stick and burn

3. Flip your pancakes at the right time – look out for bubbles on top and flip them over
