A FOOD takeaway is set to be transformed into a residential home.

Plans had been submitted to Warrington Borough Council’s planning department for a change of use from hot food takeaway to dwelling, with a new rear extension.

These are for Culcheth Spice, on Church Lane in the village, which would see an existing rear extension demolished and replaces with a smaller one.

Planners were happy with the scheme and granted planning permission.

Plans submitted as part of the application state: “The existing building is a hot food take away with a substantially built rear extension.

“The applicant wishes to apply for planning permission for a new rear extension and change of use to residential.

“The scale of the building will be reduced. The existing extensions takes up most of the rear garden. The new extension allows for a large rear garden to be retained.

“The proposed extension is in keeping with the existing front extension. The rear extension is unsightly and will be removed.”

In approving the scheme, the council said: “It is considered that the change of use and extension is acceptable when assessed against Warrington’s adopted Local Plan, taking into account material considerations.”
