11 RESTAURANTS and takeaways in Warrington have released their food hygiene ratings in the last week, with one restaurant given a one out of five rating.

Of the 11 eateries in Warrington with food hygiene ratings published in the last week, four restaurants were given a perfect five out of five.

Urban Turban on Lovely Lane, however, was given a one out of five. This designates that major improvement is needed.

The following ratings are given:

-       Soup Bowls at St Phillip’s Church, Westbrook Centre: 5/5

-       The Raj at Common Lane: 5/5

-       Urban Turban at Lovely Lane: 1/5

-       Engine Rooms at the Centre, Chadwick Place: 5/5

-       Warrington Youth Zone: 5/5

-       New Cod on the Block at Market Gate: 3/5

-       Lokal at London Road: 2/5

-       Tim Hortons at Old Market Place: 5/5

-       Partridge Lakes Café at Glaziers Lane: 3/5

-       Padgate Rose Restaurant at Station Road: 4/5

-       Thai Paragon at Warrington Road: 3/5 

 

The inspections are carried out by officers working toward the Food Standards Agency's criteria, which are:

  • Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
  • Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.
