A SHOPLIFTER has been arrested after being caught stealing goods from Tesco Express in Bruche.
Officers were called to reports of a theft at the store on Manchester Road at 7pm yesterday, Monday.
Police arrived on the scene to find a customer and member of staff in the shop had spotted a man stealing items off the shelves and had successfully detained him.
The 52-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft and later charged.
Keith Hampson of Broadbent Avenue, Latchford, will appear before Cheshire Magistrates Court on February 6.
Residents observing the incident reported the individual as attempting to steal meat from the shop.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 7pm on 5 February police received a report of a man stealing from a shop in Manchester Road, Warrington.
“He was detained by staff and customer. Officers attended and arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of theft and later charged.
“Keith Hampson from Broadbent Avenue, Latchford will appear at West Cheshire Magistrates on 6 February.”
