AFTER more than 200 appearances in a Warrington Town shirt, Mitch Duggan has played his last game for the club.
It has been announced this morning that the versatile defender has dropped down two divisions to sign for Northern Premier League West Division side Vauxhall Motors.
In confirming his departure, a Town statement confirmed Duggan had decided to leave the club after his recent sending-off against Tamworth "triggered an internal investigation into discipline."
The move brings an end to a seven-year spell at Cantilever Park for Duggan, who was one of former manager Paul Carden's first signings when he joined the club back in 2016.
The former Tranmere Rovers man held down several positions across the back line and occasionally in midfield under both Carden and Mark Beesley, forming key parts of the sides that contended for and eventually gained promotion to the National League North.
'Internal investigation into discipline' leads to Duggan departure
He made 28 appearances for Town this season and passed the 200-appearance mark for the club in the draw at South Shields last month.
However, he has not featured since being sent off during the 3-0 defeat to Tamworth which came just three days later.
"Duggan was one of the club’s longest serving players, making his 200th appearance for the club against South Shields in early January," the club said in confirming his departure
"However, after his recent red card against Tamworth triggered an internal investigation into discipline, Duggan has opted to leave Cantilever Park.
"The club would like to thank Mitch for his years of service and wish him well for the future."
