THE eye-watering salary you need to purchase a home in Warrington has been revealed.

House prices are constantly rising and plummeting across the country, and it is no secret that it is becoming increasingly harder for first time buyers to get their foot on the property ladder.

Comparison website GoCompare have revealed the average annual salary you will need to earn to purchase different types of properties in areas across the UK.

House prices were taken from the HM Land Registry price index from 2023 and monthly repayments were calculated based on the 90 per cent mortgage with 6.5 per cent interest rate over 25 years.

In Warrington it has been calculated that to purchase a detached home, you would need to be on an approximate salary of £100,276 per annum.

Meanwhile a semi-detached home would require an individual or joint salary of £56,925.

New homeowners in Warrington may be on the search for a more affordable terraced home in town, and this would need an average annual wage £44,792.

A flat however requires the lowest annual salary of £31,931 to purchase.

To keep housing costs affordable, we are using an example of a third of your take-home income.

Stating how they calculated these estimates, Go Compare said: “To keep housing costs affordable, we are using an example of a third of your take-home income.

“Housing costs of £750 a month would mean you would need to make a minimum take home pay of £2,300 a month after tax to keep these costs below a third of your take-home pay.

“To achieve that, your annual salary after tax would need to be at least £28,000, depending on your financial circumstances. This figure does not take into account other financial commitments you may have, for example a student loan.”
