A MOTHER and daughter duo are bringing their successful cycling lessons to Golden Square car park.

Jane Prowse and Dannie Roberts, from Stockport, started CycleBuddie six years ago.

The pair run weekly sessions and have taught more than 6000 individuals to ride a bike.

Since Dannie moved to Warrington, the duo have decided to expand their services and are taking over level three of the Golden Square car park.

“Our aim is to get as many children as possible riding their bikes before they leave Primary school and for more children to be able to enjoy the independence and freedom cycling can bring,” Dannie said.

The idea behind the business began after Jane and Dannie noticed parents were often paying for extra curricular activities and had no time left to teach the skill of bike riding.

“Lots of children were getting to Years five and six at school, and unable to participate in their BikeAbility sessions because they couldn't ride their bike confidently,” Jane said.

Jane has worked with children for many years, in children's homes, a school for deaf children and even owned a Tumble Tots franchise for 13 years and Dannie is a primary school teacher.

Both combined skill sets and their understand of children has made them able to create a bespoke programme which teaches children to ride in only a handful of sessions.

“We take the tantrums and the tears out of learning to ride and instead providing a positive and enjoyable experience for the children and their parents,” the pair added.

Group and one-to-one sessions are made available, with each session taking the learner ‘back to basics’.

“This is all done through lots of different little activities and games which are tailored based on the ability and the personalities of the children in each group. We work at the pace of each individual child, so pedals are then introduced once we can see the children are ready,” Dannie explained.

It is advised to book two or three sessions. One group session is £33, two sessions are £57 and three are £69.

These prices include fully trained instructors (usually at a ratio of 1:4), bike and helmet hire if needed and all of the stickers, badges and medals that the children can achieve along the way.

“We want all children to leave our sessions being able to confidently and independently ride their bikes with control and be able to brake when they need to,” they added.
