BUS operator Arriva has announced a series of changes to services in Warrington.

The changes, including reductions, rises and alterations to routes and frequencies, are due to come into effect later this month.

People who use these routes regularly are being urged to check how it impacts them to ensure minimal disruption.

An Arriva spokesman said: “We are making changes to our bus services across Merseyside and the north west from January 21, 2024.

“There will be changes to some routes and timetables, with some services enhanced to meet new levels of demand, but also some reductions where demand has fallen and some general timetable changes.

“There are also changes to some routes due to the levels of congestion we are experiencing in Liverpool city centre.”

One change is to the 329 service between Warrington and St Helens, with Monday to Saturday frequency increased to every 30 minutes.

Arriva said: “We have been delighted to see the number of people using these services grow in recent months, with significant passenger growth.

“As we react to these new patterns of demand, we are increasing the frequency on these services.”

However, the 360 service between Wigan and Warrington from Monday to Saturday has seen frequency reduced to 60 minutes.

The spokesman said: “The number of people using these bus services has reduced, with the frequency reductions in line with the demand that we are experiencing and delivering the long-term sustainability of the service.”

Another change involves the X30 service between Chester and Warrington from Monday to Saturday.

On this route, Arriva says timetables have been revised to improve reliability and respond to customer feedback, but there is no change to frequency or route.

A final change involves the number seven service between Warrington and Liverpool, which will no longer serve Liverpool One Bus station and will terminate at Queen Square.

Instead, the service will use the new Liverpool Lime Street Linkway.

Arriva said: “Due to issues with congestion in Liverpool city centre, the change will maintain connectivity while significantly improving our service delivery levels.”
