A PERSON was injured in an emergency incident on the railway near Warrington.

The incident occurred this morning, Friday, causing disruption to services between Warrington Bank Quay and Helsby.

National Rail confirmed that a person was hit by a train.

British Transport Police has confirmed that emergency services rushed to Frodsham railway station after 7am over reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the force confirmed.

A spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line near Frodsham railway station at 7.12am on Friday, December 8, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

National Rail confirmed that the incident was cleared and disruption ended by 9.30am.

The incident disrupted Transport for Wales services, with other train operators such as Northern hit by strike action today, with services cancelled.
