A WOMAN is due to appear before the crown court suspected of conveying drugs into a Warrington prison.
Lorraine Barlow faces two charges of bringing, throwing or conveying a prohibited article into a prison.
The 43-year-old, of Wordsworth Crescent in Chester, appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court to face the charges.
The court heard some brief details about the allegations from Mike O’Kane, representing the Crown Prosecution Service.
The charges allege that the offences were committed on January 30 this year at HM Prison Risley.
It is alleged that Barlow, without authorisation, conveyed substances in the form of the controlled drugs cocaine, cannabis, and spice, as well as tobacco.
The former three are categorised as ‘list A’ prohibited articles, while the latter is categorised as ‘list B’.
The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court, with a plea and trial preparation hearing listed for January 3.
The defendant will remain unconditional bail until then.
