POLICE have confirmed that a man has been arrested following a high-speed police pursuit through residential streets.

At around 1.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, police attempted to stop a car which was displaying false number plates on Neville Avenue in Orford.

The driver of the car, a grey Seat Leon, failed to stop, and officers pursued the vehicle as it travelled through the area.

During the pursuit, the car travelled along a number of roads, including Lock Avenue, Cooper Avenue, West Avenue, Clough Avenue, Burtons Green, Poplars Avenue, Poplars Road and Winwick Road.

Police subsequently abandoned the pursuit, and the car was later found abandoned near to Moss Gate Park.

A 45-year-old man was arrested in relation to the incident, and he has since been released under investigation, Cheshire Police has today confirmed.

Despite this, as part of ongoing enquiries, officers are keen to hear from anyone with any dashcam or CCTV footage of the pursuit.

Officers would also like to hear from a member of the public who stopped a police car which was enroute to the pursuit and provided a possible identity for the driver.

The same goes for anyone who witnessed the driver fleeing the scene after abandoning the car.
