TALKS are under way with potential new occupiers for the former Debenhams store in the Golden Square.
It is understood that shopping centre bosses are in the middle of discussions with a number of interested occupiers.
Debenhams closed its doors for the final time back in May 2021.
The retail giant collapsed at the end of 2020, but Warrington’s ‘anchor’ department store stayed open temporarily for stock to be sold off.
The three-storey unit has stood vacant since.
Over the last few years, Warrington shoppers have shared what they’d like to see occupy the store.
Suggestions include a ‘super’ Primark, an M&S, an NHS walk-in, a Cineworld, and a John Lewis.
