RESIDENTS and businesses affected by flooding in Warrington are invited to a public drop-in session this week.

Many people living close to Sankey Brook have been hit by devastating flooding in recent years, most notable in 2021.

Now The Environment Agency, Warrington Borough Council and United Utilities have teamed up to host the community drop-in on Tuesday.

Members of the public will be able to find out more about proposals for the Sankey Brook Flood Risk Management Scheme and updates on any recent or planned activities to reduce flood risk in the area. The Floodhub will also be in attendance to speak to residents and businesses about flood resilience and what you can do to protect your home and business from flooding.

The event takes place at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub from 2pm to 7pm.

Officers from all agencies will be on hand to answer any queries or concerns the public may have regarding flood risk.

Environment Agency flood risk manager, Ollie Hope said: “We understand the devastating impact that flooding can have, which is why protecting people and communities is our top priority.

"Areas across Warrington are at risk from flooding from the River Mersey, Sankey Brook and other watercourses.

“Our ongoing work with partners is focused on alleviating the distress, disruption and preventing costly damages experienced during and after flooding incidents.”
