A FORMER nightclub in Warrington town centre has appeared on the property market.

Bridge Street bar 53 Degrees North has sat empty for years, but it has now appeared as an online listing.

The venue is listed with leisure property specialists Fleurets, with the listing reading: “Warrington town centre bar and nightclub in a central circuit location, with a ground floor open plan bar close to the new multiplex cinema.”

The price is listed as ‘nil premium’ and the tenure sats ‘to let’.

In May 2016, 53 Degrees North was shut down and its licence suspended for 28 days following a court hearing pending a full review.

It was understood at the time that it would shut however after its owner, brewery chain Marston's, ended the tenancy.

A statement at the time released by 53 Degrees North said: "We had a couple of incidents over the last couple of weeks which we were dealing with.

“Before we had the chance to deal with the incidents, our landlords Marston's cancelled our lease on the building as it now has its own plans for it.”

The spokesman added: "They may take the building, but they won't take the memories.”

A Marston’s PLC spokesman said at the time: “As this is an open investigation, we are unable to provide comment.

“We will however be continuing to work closely with police on this.”
