WHAT are your favourite memories of Christmas at Warrington in the past?
This week in Looking Back we have gone back in our archives to the 1980s.
Who remembers this classic illuminated display on the sign of the Mr Smith's building.
The decoration was a firm favourite with drivers as they made their way over Bridge Foot.
The Mr Smith's building is now sadly only a memory.
Opened in 1937, it was a cinema and bingo hall.
In October 23, 1982 the cinemas closed. Soon after, bingo also ceased.
The original stalls became a night spot called Mr Smith's.
In March 2008 it became the Halo nightclub and the upstairs cinema areas were also used for this. This closed in 2010.
Plans were under way to renovate the building in 2015 and use it as a youth club for Warrington Youth Zone.
However the building was damaged by fire in the early hours of April 14, 2015. The building sadly had to be demolished.
