HERE is your first look inside Warrington’s brand new Taco Bell restaurant.

The Tex-Mex eatery, which offers eat in and take away options, opened this morning in Old Market Place.

The venue is based inside the former Co-operative Bank and Travel unit, which has undergone a complete and impressive transformation after sitting vacant for years.

The American multi-national chain was founded in 1962 in California and now boasts more than 7,000 venues worldwide, serving in excess of two billion customers each year.

Taco Bell venues serve a variety of Mexican-inspired foods, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos, as well as a variety of value menu items.

Plans were unveiled to open the restaurant in September, with approval being granted last month ahead of the rapid fit-out process.

The business has created jobs for 47 members of staff, while customers in the queue before the restaurant opened received free products.

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian before opening, store manager Caroline Plumpton said: “This is the biggest restaurant in the area.

“It is much bigger than our Cheshire Oaks branch, which has been open three weeks and has 20 covers, whereas this one seats 60.

“The fit-out has been really quick – around eight weeks – and we cannot wait to welcome customers now.

“We are expecting it to be really busy for the first few weeks, especially in the run up to Christmas and the Christmas markets opening in Old Market Square.

“There has been a lot of interest in the past couple of weeks with people looking through the door and asking about us opening.

“We are unique and unusual as there isn’t much like this in the area and in the market.”

Lucy Dee, UK marketing lead at Taco Bell, added: “We are delighted to be able to bring Taco Bell to Warrington.

“The people of Warrington have been crying out for Taco Bell, and we are very pleased to be able to deliver; creating local jobs despite challenging circumstances.

“We look forward to feeding residents for in-store and for takeaway.”
