A FORMER world champion boxer has been spotted enjoying a meal at a restaurant in Warrington.

Glenn McCrory popped into Zeytin on Bridge Street in the town centre earlier this week.

The sportsman boxed professionally from 1984 to 1993, holding the IBF world cruiserweight title from 1989 to 1990 and British and Commonwealth cruiserweight title between 1987 and 1988.

After retiring from the sport, he has worked as a commentator and pundit for Sky Sports since 1989.

Zeytin is run by Grappenhall resident Ozgur Gecim, with the Mediterranean restaurant aiming to ‘bring the best dishes from the heart of Turkey’.

On the visit from McCrory, he said: “We were surprised to see him, but he said that some of his friends recommended us to him.

“He told us he loved the mixed grill, and that he liked the restaurant so much, the next time he is in Warrington, he will definitely be coming back to Zeytin.”

Zeytin serves Mediterranean food with a Turkish twist. It has an extensive menu and something for ‘everyone’s budget’.

It offers platters, kebabs, pizzas, seafood and even roast dinners on Sundays, while a whole range of drinks can be found, including cocktails.
