AN animal shelter has shared a plea urging people not to use a certain type of Halloween decoration in their garden.
As October 31 approaches, homes across the town will begin to put up spooky items in gardens.
Among them is fake cobwebs, which may look good but can be a ‘deathtrap’ for wildlife that gets stuck in them.
Warrington Animal Welfare, based on Slutchers Lane near the town centre, is urging people not to use the decoration due to the unnecessary risk it poses.
It shared a post by United to Save Wildlife which said: “Please do not use these fake cobwebs. They are an absolute deathtrap for garden birds.”
In sharing the post, Warrington Animal Welfare added: “Keep seeing these around Warrington on people's hedges and just want to rip them off.
