WARRINGTON jobseekers have been helped to find life-changing social care work to support the NHS ahead of winter.

The event at Warrington Jobcentre was attended by 18 resident jobhunters as part of a drive by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to boost hiring for the sector and support the NHS as months get colder.

Various roles were offered by four employers, including, care assistants, support workers and personal assistants, with 37 interviews taking place and more to follow.

Colin Billingsley, an employer adviser at Warrington Jobcentre said: “It is crucial that people of all ages and backgrounds have the chance to progress.

“We want people to know our local Jobcentre team is on hand to support them on their work journey.”

The drive follows the Department of Health and Social Care’s announcement of an additional £40million investment available to local authorities to strengthen their social care provision over the winter months.

More than 100 multi-sector job fairs, including for social care roles, are taking place between October and December to give jobseekers the opportunity to speak directly with employers.
