FIREFIGHTERS rushed to the scene of a vehicle fire in the early hours of Tuesday.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) attended the scene at Newton-le-Willows Health and Fitness Centre at around 1.59am on Tuesday, October 17, where they found a vehicle in flames.

It is believed that the vehicle was an electric car charging at one of the charging stations in the car park.

Shocked residents later shared pictures of the burnt-out vehicle on social media, which has been fenced off at the fitness centre.
