THE exciting new craze of outdoor teaching has been introduced to a nursery in Callands.

Forest School has taken off in schools all over the country and Bright Horizons Callands Day Nursery is the latest in the area to join the trend.

Toddlers at the Gresford Close nursery enjoyed their first session in the outdoors recently, making crowns out of shrubbery and leaves.

The babies learnt the Forest School rules about keeping safe and sticking together.

During the session, the toddlers also showcased their fine motor skills by spreading glue onto their crowns and carefully selecting leaves and then proudly wore their creations while exploring the rest of the garden.

Research conducted in the UK has shown that Forest School has a range of positive impacts on young children, including increased confidence, improved social skills, enhanced language and communication abilities, heightened motivation and concentration, and the development of physical skills and knowledge.

This is a big factor as to why it has been introduced in Bright Horizons Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

After a successful introduction to the Scandinavian-inspired education, sessions will now run weekly on Mondays at the nursery and are available to two to four-year-olds.
