WARRINGTON Blues Club returns after a 10-year hiatus with its first event in a decade taking place this week.
Its tagline is: "Keeping the blues alive."
A staple of the music scene in Warrington for a number of years, the club closed its doors in 2010.
Having been running for 17 years, the club's time was drawn to a close 13 years ago, but it is set to be revived since its fateful closure.
Created in 1993 by husband-and-wife team Ray and Barbara O’Hare, Warrington Blues Club came about after the couple attended a concert in Oldham and realised that Warrington had nothing similar to offer.
The couple got in touch with Touchers Bowling Club, in Bewsey, and this became their home for six months in 1993.
The club then moved to Warrington Town FC’s ground and stayed there for 15 years with Ray describing the venue as a ‘spiritual home.'
Friday, October 20, will see the revival of the club, with an event taking place that is sure to please lovers of the blues from far and wide.
Robin Bradshaw told the Warrington Guardian he is currently 'in the process of resurrecting' the beloved social group, and is looking forward to the new club's first event since 2010, which will be held at the Bellhouse Olde Barn, in Grappenhall.
He has also been in touch with Barbara O'Hare, who says that she is excited about the move - it is just unfortunate that her late husband, Ray, is no longer here to see the club's return.
