WARRINGTON Borough Council has announced that there will be five weeks of closures on the approach to Cantilever Bridge.

The closures will take place between 7pm and 1am from Monday, November 6.

As per the announcement, the southwestern and southeastern approaches to Cantilever Bridge from Ackers Road will be closed during this time.

The full council announcement is as follows: "Notice is hereby given that, in not less than seven days from the date of this notice, the council intends to make an order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

"The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving and clearway as follows:

"Cantilever Bridge southeastern approach from the junction at Ackers Road to the Cantilever Bridge; Cantilever Bridge southwestern approach from the junction at Ackers Road to the Cantilever Bridge.

"The order will be effective from November 6, 2023, for five weeks, between 7pm and 1am, as and when signed on site.

"Access will be under the control of the relevant contractor for the duration of the works.

"The alternative route will be via Station Road, Knutsford Road, Hunts Lane, Ackers Road and vice versa or via Station Road, Wash Lane, Loushers Lane, Wilderspool Causeway, Grappenhall Road, Chester Road, Ackers Road and vice versa.

"The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing."
