POLICE are investigating a disgusting incident which saw a cat shot by a heartless offender armed with a shotgun.

The poor pet was found by its owner in a pool of blood and riddled with shotgun pellets on Haley Road North in Burtonwood.

The male cat was rushed to a vet and underwent an operation to remove 27 shotgun pellets.

Thankfully, the cat is doing well, walking and is on the mend, albeit with some nerve damage to his leg.
