COMEDY fans rejoice, as a veteran of the scene has been announced to be playing at Warrington's Parr Hall next year.

Rhod Gilbert will be bringing his tour 'Rhod Gilbert and the Giant Grapefruit’ to Warrington as part of his first tour since 2019.

The tour is set to feature some of Gilbert's darkest material, spanning various topics including his own recent battle with cancer, and he will appear in Warrington in May 2024.

His previous tour, 'The Book of John,' was so popular that it was extended with new dates and saw the Welsh comic play to more than 200,000 people - however, it also saw postponements due to the pandemic and Rhod’s own battle with head and neck cancer.

Describing grapefruit as a 'pretty pungent citrus', Gilbert's tour attempts to turn life's curveballs into things slightly more positive.

Speaking about the tour, the comic said: "After the year I’ve had it’s wonderful to be alive and going back on the road.

"I can’t wait to get back on stage and I’m ready to get way too personal about life’s recent ups and downs.

“When life gives you lemons, you have to squeeze them 'til the comedy juice flows, so prepare for some dark but funny s***."

Familiar to many as a regular panellist on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does CountdownQIWould I Lie to You?, and more - as well as featuring on Taskmaster, Gilbert is hugely popular, and is sure to have something up his sleeve to tickle anybody's funnybone.

He has also hosted three series of The Apprentice: You're Fired, and has played at three Royal Variety Performance shows.

Rhod Gilbert will play Warrington's Parr Hall on Thursday, May 16, 2024 - tickets are on sale on Friday, September 29 at 10am via Culture Warrington's website.
