PLANNING officers at Warrington Borough Council have approved retrospective plans for a domestic dog grooming parlour in Stretton.

This comes after plans for a salon at the same site were struck down by the council in February.

Since then, the landowners developed the parlour - regardless of having no permission - and submitted a proposal for retrospective planning permission.

This has subsequently been given permission by the council's planning officers.

According to the council's online planning portal, planning officers approved the proposal for retrospective permission for the grooming parlour - off Beamish Close, Stretton - on Monday, September 18.

The plans were not without controversy, with one objection being lodged that reads: "There has been a change of use of half of the double garage from C3 Residential to Commercial/Business usage (a dog grooming business) which is inappropriate and out of keeping in a quiet, wholly residential cul de sac.

"There are no other business premises in this area.

"There has not been due consideration given to the increase in noise levels which this business will bring.

"While the business has been operating for several months, this has been over the winter period where the weather has been cold and generally inclement."

It continues: "Although some soundproofing has been added to the garage conversion, during warmer months, it is inevitable that such a small space will require better ventilation and that doors will be left open to provide this.

"The noise from a commercial dog grooming business, such as dryers and clippers, in addition to the noise of the dogs themselves, is not appropriate."

As per the council's planning portal, the property now has permission to operate as a dog grooming parlour.
