A ‘FIT and healthy’ mum has been given the devastating news that she has just six months to live after noticing a change in her vision.

After her vision had become dark and blurry and seemed generally different, Caroline Dartnell was told she had stage 4 glioblastoma in January of this year.

Surgery was not an option for Caroline, who was 35 at the time of her diagnosis, due to the tumour’s tricky location.

But described as not being the type to back down from a fight, Caroline, from Great Sankey, ‘plunged headfirst’ into intense radiotherapy by February.

Showing the world her ‘incredible strength’, Caroline headed to the clinic every day for weeks.

Although Caroline, who has a six-year-old son called Luca, and her family received a ‘glimmer of hope’ when she joined a trial for a new drug, she was then told the devastating news that her brain tumour was continuing to grow.

Her sister Sarah Cosby told the Warrington Guardian: “We held our breath as she went through a battery of scans and tests, but unfortunately the scans revealed that the tumour was growing, relentless as ever.”

Doctors had to make the heart-wrenching decision to stop Caroline’s treatment and in August of this year, she was given the devastating prognosis that she has just six months to live.

Warrington Guardian:

“We are devastated,” Sarah added.

“She is only 35, she is healthy and fit and has so much ahead of her.

“She has made a lovely life for her and Luca.”

Despite being dealt this devastating blow, the inspirational Caroline, who is a key account manager, has remained strong and positive.

She is dedicated to making the most of the time she has left and is aiming to create fantastic memories, especially for Luca who ‘looks up to his mum like she is the sun’.

Next month, Caroline and Sarah are taking a trip to Disneyland Paris with their children and she has other plans including staying overnight at a safari park as well as a visit to Lapland in December if she is feeling up to it.

Sarah said: “As we navigate this emotional rollercoaster, our one big wish is to make every moment they share together as magical and heartwarming as possible.

“We're all in this together, determined to surround Caroline and Luca with love, support, and unforgettable experiences during this tough stretch of their journey.”

A fundraiser has been set up to create memories for Caroline.
