WARRINGTON will see a soapbox derby set up tracks in the town centre next year.

Krazy Races soapbox is a downhill racing series that sees competitors build and race their own go-karts.

The event, brought by the Warrington Bid team, will take place in the town centre in June 2024.

As per the event's website: "Come and join thousands of spectators from across Warrington and beyond to cheer on our krazy, wacky and outrageous soapbox downhill racers at Warrington Krazy Races.

"Launching themselves down through the centre of town in their carefully hand-crafted karts our racers will tackle our track with chicanes, obstacles, water and more. Hopefully they will stop in time."

It continues: "The event is fuelled by our amateur teams who will be entertaining the crowds and competing to be the best dressed, have the best designed and the fastest soapbox karts powered by nothing more than krazy courage, wacky inspiration, gravity and a bit of luck.

"Our competitors will work their way through a knockout-style competition with only the fastest 10 cars making it through to the final, where they will battle to take home the winner's trophy."

In terms of competing, the organisers say: "As one of our teams, you are integral to the day as you are the ones who will bring the Krazy as well as your soapbox.

"Not in it to win it? That’s okay as it’s not all about being the fastest - we have prizes for showmanship, innovation and best dressed so bring the fun and you could still win a prize.

"Your soapbox is only half of the show, as the team is a wacky extension of your Krazy Kart so you will need to wow us with a 20-second performance before you launch yourself downhill."

The Krazy Races downhill soapbox derby will take place in Warrington town centre on June 9, 2024 - for more information, visit the Krazy Races website: https://www.krazyraces.co.uk/warrington-krazy-races/
