A UFC HEAVYWEIGHT title hopeful has continued his preparation for upcoming fights with a session at a Warrington Cross-Fit gym.

Tom Aspinall, of Atherton, is the number four ranked Heavyweight in the UFC, making him one of the most feared fighters in the world.

Having won his most recent fight in July over Polish fighter Marcin Tybura, Aspinall caught the attention of Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, claiming he would win one more fight and then take Jones’ belt.

Whilst his next fight has yet to be announced, Aspinall has been keeping himself fit, most recently at a session in Warrington at CrossFit RBR.

CrossFit RBR coach Phil Shedden, 36, said: “Tom came over for a session last Saturday (August 19) at the gym.

“We’ve got mutual friends, so I just reached out and asked if he wanted to come down for a workout!

“He came down with his Dad as well as his strength and conditioning coach. We did a good session, his missus even got involved and did it with us.

“Tom said it was stuff he would not normally do, so he was apprehensive. A lot of the movements are ones he wouldn’t normally do. As well as that he had just come off a week off with his family, so he said he was feeling ‘soft’.

“But he ended up loving it! He’s said he would fancy coming back and would want to do another session.”

CrossFit RBR is a gym in the Trident Business Park offering classes and a community-driven fitness facility catering to people in Warrington and Risley.
