BEAMONT Collegiate Academy pupils shed tears of happiness with their peers and family members as they received the GCSE results they had been hoping for.

The grounds were filled with smiling faces as students lifted their results nervously from brown envelopes, many with hopes of securing a place at their chosen college.

One star performer of the day was year 11 pupil Danny Howell who achieved an outstanding grade 9 in all subjects.

“I am so pleased with my results, I did not expect it,” he said. The bright student is heading to Cronton Sixth Form to study biology, chemistry, maths and has hopes of pursuing a career in medics.

Meanwhile other high achievers from the year group included Filip Mazur-Cieniak, Robert Smith, Aleesa Ghaffar and Maisie Jeffers who all achieved grades 9 to 7.

Gareth Harris, head teacher of the academy said: “There have been a really strong set of results.

“I think the national narrative seems to be around the return to 2019 performance, however here in this school we are performing above those 2019 performance measures.

“We have seen key improvements around English and maths, around Spanish and history, around the number of students getting both English and maths and progressing to post-16 destinations.

“So overall it has been a really pleasing set of results.”
