POLICE searching for a young woman with Warrington links who was reported missing from home have tragically recovered a body.
Cheshire Police officers attended woodland near Stockham Lane in Runcorn after 8.30pm on Saturday evening.
They were called to attend following reports of a woman’s body, and sadly, this was confirmed following attendance at the scene.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
The force also confirmed that the body is that of a 22-year-old woman from the Runcorn area who had been reported missing by her family the day prior.
She has been named locally as Lauren Carmichael, with an appeal to find the former Priestley College student on social media being shared more than 7,500 times.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 8.35pm on Saturday, August 5, police were called to reports of a woman’s body being found in woodland near Stockham Lane, Runcorn.
“Officers attended the scene and confirmed that the young woman had died.
“She has since been formally identified as a 22-year-old from the Runcorn area. She had been reported missing the previous day by her family.
“Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
