ARTISAN markets will return to Birchwood Shopping Centre this coming weekend, and will feature around 60 independent traders.

The markets will descend upon the shopping centre on Saturday, August 12, and are coordinated by Independent Street.

Taking place across a full day of fun, the markets will feature added extras to help provide something for everyone - especially now that the school summer holidays are upon us.

Lisa Cowley from Independent Street says that being a mum herself, she knows that it can be difficult to get things done while keeping your children happy during the summer holidays.

Speaking ahead of the market event, Lisa said: "We understand that the long summer holidays can be challenging for families."

This is why there will be an emphasis on fun-filled activities that will be on offer throughout the day, which will ensure that some of the younger market-goers are kept fully entertained.

Returning to Birchwood Shopping Centre, the artisan markets are aimed at championing local and independent businesses.

In a comment for the Warrington Guardian, Independent Street said: "Expect the very best of local food, drink, arts and craft.

"There will be many award-winning producers of unique goods set to inspire.

"Pop along and join us, it is a superb opportunity to find out the origins of your food, meet our makers and bakers, feast your eyes upon some goodies and fill those shopping bags whilst indulging in some good conversations with our team and stall holders."

Although there will be dozens of independent traders on the day, this will be the first appearance at the markets for White Lace Bakery - winners of the Warrington Guardian's 'Best for Desserts' 2022 and 2023.

Lisa explained: "We are delighted to be back at Birchwood.

"The Birchwood Artisan Market is always a great event for the local neighbourhood and business community.

"We understand that the long summer holidays can be challenging for families which is why we are offering free grass head making workshops as well as pasta jewellery making.

"Both of these activities will be free of charge.

"This Saturday we are also joined by the Cheshire Fire Brigade and Warrington Police who will have vehicles at the front of the centre.

She added: "The Birchwood Artisan Market this Saturday will be packed full of entertainment, live music and fun for the whole family."

John Magee, centre manager at Birchwood Shopping Centre, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Independent Street to deliver Artisan Markets at Birchwood Shopping Centre and we can't wait to see as many of our customers as possible enjoying the atmosphere and discovering the unique selection of crafts and gifts that will be on offer.

"We are looking forward to another fantastic day."

The artisan markets return to Birchwood Shopping Centre between 10am-4pm on Saturday, August 12.
