A MOTORIST has been reported by police after being caught driving down the M6 with their kids in the boot.

North West Motorway Police have confirmed that earlier today, Tuesday, they received reports of seven people in a Volkswagen Arteon traveling down the M6. Of these seven, two were in the boot.

The vehicle was taken off at Junction 20, Lymm Interchange, and reported by Motorway Police.

The driver was reported for three offences, carrying two passengers with no seatbelts, and using a vehicle for an unsuitable purpose.

The family were going on holiday when they were pulled over due to the children in their boot.

Cheshire Police tweeted about the incident saying: "Unbelievable. We know many will be on our roads over the next few weeks for their holidays, but there are no excuses when it comes to not wearing seatbelts."A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 9.55am on Tuesday 28 July, police received reports of an over-laden vehicle travelling on the M6 northbound through Cheshire.

"Officers stopped the black VW Arteon near to Junction 20 and found that there were seven people inside the five-seater car – including two children, aged 13 and 16, who were sat in the boot.

"The driver of the car was reported for two counts of carrying a passenger without a seatbelt and one count of using a vehicle for an unsuitable purpose."
