DARESBURY Hall has been put on the property market for £5million.

The Grade II listed building has recently fallen into a state of disrepair, and is now being sold alongside the land it sits on.

Daresbury Hall dates back to the mid-18th century, and was devastated by a fire that tore through the historic building in 2016.

The property is described on Rightmove as an 'exciting residential development opportunity.'

In years gone by, planning permission had been granted for around 65,000 square feet of residential development, though such development did not come to fruition - this resulted in the permission expiring.

The landowners are selling the property with a view that the buyer will complete previously-approved residential developments on the site, saying: "We are initially seeking expressions of interest from developers, either unconditional or potentially conditional on a renewed planning consent."

Daresbury Hall was originally built in 1759 and was lived in by the Greenhall family, and later Baron Daresbury.

As per the property description: "It was listed in 1952 and was once a beautiful and substantial Georgian house, which was then used in the Second World War as a military hospital, and for some years from 1955 by a charity as a residential home for handicapped people, which was presumably when some of the more modern buildings were constructed."

Overall, the property on sale covers more than 16 acres of land - which explains why the landowners are asking for offers in excess of £5million.
