PLANS to 'permanently change' Lymm Interchange have been revealed by the Government.

This comes as the latest step in the High Speed 2 (HS2) railway project has been announced.

As part of the Crewe-Manchester plans, there will be an additional provision for the improvement of infrastructure in surrounding areas - which encompasses Lymm.

The HS2 plans of additional provision (AP) are up for consultation with the public, and the second AP (AP2) includes plans that will permanently change Lymm Interchange.

These plans show that it is planned for junction 20a on the M6 to be altered at Lymm Interchange.

According to a statement on Lymm Parish Council's website, the plans propose an additional lane be added to the northbound stretch of the motorway for merging traffic.

The statement says: "This will require additional land-take.

"This change aims to improve road safety for vehicles when joining and leaving the motorway."

A public consultation period is open for this section of the additional provision plans, and will remain open until August 15.

More information is available on Gov.uk's page regarding this section of the HS2 bill.

Lymm Parish Council says: "Engagement with those affected by the scheme has been an integral part of the development of HS2.

"To ensure individuals have the information they need and the opportunity to ask questions and raise any concerns, a series of engagement events will be held over the coming weeks.

"These sessions build on topics covered in February and March’s webinars.

"The full suite of documents is available to view electronically from Lymm Parish Council and Lymm Library.

"Please contact the Parish Clerk or the staff at Lymm Library to arrange a viewing.

"These documents can be viewed up until Royal Assent."
