FRESH proposals regarding the renovation of the Cheshire Cheese pub on Knutsford Road have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council.
The popular Latchford watering hole has been the subject of a number of applications in recent years, with the most recent seeing that the pub's roof is replaced.
Now, however, another application has been submitted regarding an update to the interior of the establishment.
An application has been lodged with the planning department at the council for the installation of three log-burning stoves at the pub.
It is proposed that these are fitted into the interior walls of the pub.
The new wood burners will be installed - should permission be granted - where old chimneys were once in place.
Documents submitted suggest that there were once three fire openings within the Cheshire Cheese, though they were infilled at an unknown date.
It is the plan for those fire openings to be brought back into use through the installation of new wood-burning stoves.
The pub itself is a Grade II listed building, which means that planning regulations are stricter for it.
According to the heritage statement, the building dates back to the late 1700s, and was once the site of an old stables building.
In recent months, work was undertaken at the pub to repair its roof, which was in need of attention.
A previous application was also granted approval for the rebuilding of chimneys on the roof of the pub in August 2022.
This application was validated by planners at Warrington Borough Council on Tuesday, July 11, and a decision is due by Tuesday, September 5.
