Colleen “goes above and beyond for all the children” at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School especially at Christmas.

One grateful parent said: “On the last day before the children broke up for Christmas, we arrived at school to a snow machine pumping snow everywhere and all the teachers dressed in Christmas clothes, singing Christmas songs on the microphones.

“That same morning Mrs Everett had arranged for real life reindeer to come to school and the children had no idea.

“The photos of their faces spoke volumes.

“The afternoon was a Christmas party with a visit from a Santa and then a movie with hot chocolate and snacks!

“I want to go to this school!”

Another said: “The guidance and updates we receive from school as parents is second to none and Mrs Everett is at the forefront of this.”

Happy parents said Colleen is “just fabulous” and is “the heart and soul of the school”.

The school has a wide variety of extracurricular activities, from after school clubs, visits to the local hospital to sing to patients with dementia in honour of the King’s Coronation together with a red, blue and white theme and a visit from the ice cream man.

Colleen said: “To say that I am both honoured and delighted to be awarded Headteacher of the Year 2023 would be an understatement.

“While we don’t do our job for recognition and thanks, it means the world that someone has gone out of their way to nominate me.

“This award is accepted on behalf of the whole Sacred Heart family who work so hard to ensure that children in our care are safe and loved and more importantly feel safe and loved.

“I feel so privileged to have worked beside such fantastic staff, parents and governors and the most wonderful children for the past 14 years.

“Roll on the next 14!”
