Pupils at St Lewis' Catholic Primary School were treated with a trip to the Houses of Parliament recently.

The school's visit to the capital meant that pupils had enough time to engage with their MP.

Charlotte Nichols, MP for Warrington North, welcomed pupils from Year 5 at St Lewis' to Parliament.

Ms Nichols makes a point of allowing schools to visit and engage with her - a passion shared by Warrington South MP Andy Carter, who visits schools in Warrington each Monday.

A number of pupils from St Lewis' headed down to London for the day, where they were treated to a tour of Parliament.

The youngsters then fancied their chances during a debating workshop which had the topic of: "Should children under 10 have access to mobile phones?"

During the workshop, the pupils were joined by Warrington North's Labour MP, who was asked plenty of questions by the keen young Parliamentarians.

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian, St Lewis' Catholic Primary School said: "The children had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed learning about how laws are made."
