A BEAUTY salon owner has described June 5 as her "lucky day" as the business wins a top award on its anniversary.

The House of Glam joined Newton High Street businesses in June last year, with the salon celebrating the anniversary on Monday.

On the same day, salon owner Lily Cooper and her team headed to London for the Salon Business Awards 2023, where the salon bagged its first award.

The House of Glam won the Ultimate Salon Award, with 25-year-old Lily describing the win as an "unbelievable feeling."

Lily said: "It feels amazing to win.

"Winning Ultimate Salon was an unbelievable feeling; I just didn’t expect it at all.

"My whole team is a great support and winning this award makes us all so proud to be a part of a fantastic team.

"Also winning our first award on our one-year anniversary was so special; I think June 5 might be my new lucky date."

The beautician took over the former Christopher hairdressers premises with her nail and beauty business which she set up from home in 2019.

The business soon took off, with the salon since settled onto the high street.

Lily added: "It’s been really good and really busy. The high street has been crazy busy, and I think being on the high street has opened us up to more opportunities, even working with other businesses.

"When I was working at home there was none of that, so it’s nice to have a community feel.

"People have stuck with us and seen us just and have been really supportive; we love it."
